Branding Case Study: Strategic Digital Health Brand Transformation
Executive Summary
Osteoid (owned by Anatomage) is a leader in 3D dental imaging software and digital dentistry solutions, but its original visual identity no longer matched its technical sophistication or market position. We led a strategic rebrand in partnership with Osteoid’s internal designer, modernizing the logo system to improve differentiation, digital usability, and credibility in a fast-evolving category. The result was a premium, digital-first identity—stronger contrast, more authoritative typography, and a more meaningful emblem—built to scale across software interfaces, web, mobile, and marketing materials.

The Need
Osteoid had outgrown its original brand identity. As its offerings expanded and its leadership in digital dentistry became clearer, the company needed an identity that reflected innovation, precision, and authority.
The existing logo—monochromatic gray, an abstract emblem with weak relevance, and thin typography—was functional but didn’t communicate “high-tech dental imaging leader.” In a category where software UI, product experience, and credibility all blend together, the brand needed to look as advanced as the technology behind it.
Osteoid needed a modern identity that could clearly communicate leadership in dental technology, establish a premium high-tech presence in 3D dentistry, ensure consistency across digital platforms and software interfaces, and differentiate from competitors leaning on generic dental symbols and dated branding.
The Challenge
This rebrand had to solve real-world issues, not just aesthetics. Osteoid operates in a digital-first environment, where brand assets must perform inside software products as much as in marketing.
Low Contrast and Weak Differentiation
The existing gray logo lacked impact and presence, especially in crowded competitive contexts. The emblem didn’t clearly connect to 3D dental imaging or digital dentistry, and the thin typography didn’t project technical authority.
Digital Scalability and Usability
The previous identity didn’t scale well across interfaces, web, mobile, and print. Delicate features hurt legibility at smaller sizes—exactly where software companies live.
Modernization Without Losing Clinical Credibility
The new identity needed to feel cutting-edge while still communicating trust and professionalism. In dental and healthcare-adjacent markets, “futuristic” without credibility can read like hype.
The Approach
We ran the rebrand as a positioning-aligned identity system build, partnering closely with Osteoid’s internal designer to ensure the work was both strategic and implementable.
Step 1: Define the Brand Requirements Through Market and Stakeholder Inputs
We analyzed the competitive landscape, audience expectations, and Osteoid’s business direction. Through interviews and research, we anchored the identity on three non-negotiables: advanced technology, trust/credibility, and scalability across digital-first environments.
Step 2: Modernize the Core Identity Signals
We reimagined the system using four design principles that directly addressed the gaps:
A Refined, High-Tech Color Palette
We moved from monochromatic gray to a premium, high-contrast palette: deep navy (“Almost Black”) paired with golden yellow (“Golden Road”). The combination signals trust and seriousness (navy) with innovation and excellence (gold), giving the brand a stronger presence in both product and marketing contexts.
A Bold, Modern Wordmark
We introduced a stronger sans-serif typeface with rounded, structured letterforms designed for confidence and legibility. This shift made the brand feel more authoritative and improved usability across screen sizes and environments.
A More Meaningful Emblem
We created a refined abstract mark that subtly suggests precision, 3D imaging, and movement—supporting the digital dentistry narrative without relying on cliché dental imagery. The goal was distinctiveness with relevance.
A Complete Brand System, Not Just a Logo
We developed brand guidelines and implementation assets to ensure consistency across software interfaces, websites, presentations, and marketing materials—so the new identity could be deployed cleanly and maintained over time.
The Solution
The final identity system established a premium, high-tech look aligned with Osteoid’s innovation in 3D dental imaging. The new color palette created immediate contrast and presence. The modernized wordmark improved authority and legibility across digital use cases. The updated emblem provided a clearer, more distinctive visual anchor tied to the category without being literal.
Just as important, the rebrand was built as a scalable system, with guidelines and assets designed for real implementation across product and marketing.
The Results
Osteoid’s rebrand repositioned the company visually as a modern, technology-driven leader in digital dentistry.
Enhanced brand recognition through a higher-contrast logo system and distinctive color palette.
Increased perceived credibility by aligning the visual identity with precision, innovation, and professional authority.
Improved digital usability with a scalable system optimized for software UI, web, mobile, and professional applications.
What Changed and Why It Worked
Before, Osteoid looked like an early-stage company despite operating like a category leader—low contrast, thin typography, and an emblem that didn’t tell the “3D imaging” story. After, the identity matched the product reality: bolder signals, clearer differentiation, and a system designed for digital environments where legibility and consistency are make-or-break. In digital health and dental tech, the brand is part of the product experience—and this rebrand made Osteoid look as precise and advanced as the technology it delivers.
